A year in the making

You! Yes, You! Thank you for reading "Napkin People"!

I would especially like to thank:

Karl and Heather who were insistent that Napkin People be shared with the world.
Jason and Becky who have always been there.
Dad who is a very vocal fan, and who has been very vocally protesting the retirement of "Napkin People" for some time.
Asia who got me drawing again.
Sharon for inviting Napkin People to be a huge part of her history.
David, Shannon, and Nick for giving me some excellent inspiration.
My kids for humoring me and becoming scene stealers.

And Mike - for everything.

Some Love!

Love can make you feel all kinds of ways.
Like radiant, terrific, and humble.

One year ago...

A year ago, I started out on this adventure. It has been quietly amazing. I don't command legions of followers, nor did I desire or expect to. But I have truly been moved to tears by the love my readers have expressed for this comic. In the beginning, I wasn't sure I would be able to do it for a month, much less twelve, but here we are. One year. The time for this project to end has come, and while I look forward to doing new things, I will miss sitting down every morning to my happy little people. Four one panel comics to go, and then I'll be retiring the comic. Don't worry, I'll be leaving the strips up, and even be loading in the old ones, backdated, so that the entire project is in one spot. And from time to time I may load one that simply had to be drawn. In the coming months, I'll be working on compiling all of the strips into a book, and, as soon that is accomplished, I will let you know.

I hope that they have brought you joy. Pass it on. Not necessarily in this form, but give a little joy to someone else. "Be the change you wish to see in the world."

Thank you.

Jailbreak!!!

If you were wondering *why* Mister is having trouble getting up in the morning for school, here, then, is your explanation.
+2 Dragon Blanket of Stealth.

Sometimes a hot dog is just a hot dog.

And sometimes, like at the Galaxy Drive In, that hot dog is shocking DayGlo pink.
Old school hot dogs for an old school theater.
Don't let the appearance deter you. Them's good eats.

"I'll cut your heart out..."

Our friend Nick is visiting, and, as you can see, he has a way with words.
I'll be strong-arming him into a collaborative project shortly.

How far would you drive?

Long before I read the amazing American Gods by Neil Gaiman, I made the trek to "see beautiful Rock City". It *is* beautiful. It is also surreal and bizarre in portions. Much like love.

I always feel like...

We are rather fond of gargoyles around these parts. One of our movers had another one of them convinced the gargoyles were kept to ward off computer viruses. I've been using this explanation for our small collection ever since. "We like them," was always met with extreme skepticism. "Computer virus prevention," is, apparently, far more reasonable.

Virtual Experience

Animal Crossing, Super Smash Bros. Brawl & Melee, Mario Kart, and Zelda.
It was a busy summer.

It takes two

Sometimes it's hard to figure out who's leading, but if you move together it doesn't really matter.

Take Me With You!

Pets aren't the only ones that try to stow away in your luggage.

Forces Collide

If there's one thing I learned from "The Young Ones", it's that everything is more fun with a wrecking ball.

Buffalo gals, won't you come out tonight.

"What do you want, Mary? Do you want the moon? If you want it, I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down for you. Hey! That's a pretty good idea! I'll give you the moon, Mary."

Zuzu's petals...gets me every time.

Crayola Ink

Mister is really working on his artistic skills.

In a somewhat related note, it is inadvisable to fall asleep on the couch while visiting us.

Oseedy!

One might argue that spittin' out the seeds is the best part of eating watermelon in the summertime.
One who probably doesn't have OCD.

Secret Wish #542 Fullfilled!

All the fun of a waterbed with zero chance of flooding!!!
Tell me that's not brilliant!
Better yet, tell Mike.

Share the love!

Getting caught in the sprinklers? Mildly annoying
Giving big squishy hugs afterward? Made of WIN!!!

Defying Gravity

Pole vaulting is one of those things I watch and think, "That should not work." As if the participants are bending reality to their will. I guess love can be like that too.

Sock of Shame!

Danny, our dog, is having surgery today to remove a tumor on his foot. This last week, we had to resort to extreme measures to keep him from worrying at it.
I swear at one point he looked at me and said, "Lady, I love you, but your puppies drive me crazy."

Life imitates art

Yesterday, Mister Boo drew pictures of Miss Boo, Mike, and his cousin.
All of them in the style of Napkin People.
It was kind of awesome.

Kisses make it better.

Yeah, antiseptics and bandages do their part, but kisses actually have the magical properties to make it better.

Silent but Deadly

What's worse than a ninja?
A poop ninja.

Words of wisdom from a preschooler.

Pitter patter of little feet?

Whoever came up with that saying obviously didn't have a two story house.
